FAQ
Common questions.
How is an "access point" counted?
Any unique BSSID broadcasting on a network that authenticates against IronWiFi during a given month. Mesh repeaters that share a BSSID count once.
How is a "monitored identity" counted for ITDR?
A unique NAI (Network Access Identifier) or username that authenticated against a designated RADIUS realm in the preceding 30 days — deduped across devices, sessions, and authentication attempts. A user with 5 devices = 1 identity.
Can I mix monthly and annual billing?
Yes. Core meters can be monthly while ITDR is annual (or vice-versa). Annual gets a 20% commitment discount; the ITDR bundle discount stacks on top for IronWiFi RADIUS customers.
Do guest authentications count as users?
No. Guest auths roll up under the per-AP Guest meter, not the per-user Employee meter. They become billable ITDR identities only if their NAI persists across sessions (e.g., social login, paid Wi-Fi accounts).
What if I exceed my ITDR identity cap?
Overage is billed at $0.50 / identity / month. We send an upgrade prompt at 80% of cap for two consecutive 30-day windows so you can size up cleanly.
I run a coworking space — should I use the per-AP / per-user meters or the Coworking plan?
The Coworking plan is built for member-driven spaces: flat per-location pricing, unlimited users, no per-head audits or true-ups, and direct integrations with Nexudus, OfficeRnD, DeskWorks, and Cobot. It's $195 / month or $1,950 / year per location — covering the first 15 access points, with additional APs at $13 / mo each. Per-AP / per-user is for offices with predictable headcount and AP density. Get a quote for multi-location chains.
Are there packaged plans for hospitality, retail, schools, or apartments?
Packaged plans are available on request for hospitality (per-property), retail chains (per-store), K-12 schools (per-school), and MDU / student housing (per-building). Each is designed around how the vertical operator actually budgets — not per-AP arithmetic. Talk to sales for a quote.
Do I have to migrate off my existing RADIUS to use ITDR?
No. ITDR is a drop-in product on any standards-compliant RADIUS infrastructure. You keep your existing RADIUS; we ingest authentication events and run detection centrally. The 20% bundle discount applies only when you are also on IronWiFi Cloud RADIUS.
